DA UN FIORE (excerpt) by Daniela Fantechi / Reworkings of G. Frescobaldi Kyrie degli Apostoli

Duo Berlanda-Vicens Catalina Vicens - portative organ Margherita Berlanda - accordion Music by Daniela Fantechi (*1984) – DA UN FIORE (2026, for duo Berlanda-Vicens) In this work, I re-read the Kyrie degli Apostoli from Girolamo Frescobaldi’s Fiori Musicali (1635) by exploiting distinctive features of the accordion and the portative organ, for instance, the accordion's extremely low register at the opening and close, which becomes both a generating and a resonating element. From the original, I first isolated some intervals, then some melodic fragments, which intertwine in a dialogue; as the two instruments use similar registers, this dialogue grows increasingly complex, producing numerous beatings. -Daniela Fantechi Video credits: Giulia Lenzi Recorded at Castello di Pergine September 2026 Acknowledgments: Fondazione Castel Pergine
