Dr. Heather K. Calloway is the Director of the Museum Studies Program at IU Indianapolis and a Visiting Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Liberal Arts. She previously served as Indiana University’s first Executive Director of University Collections, where she developed the university’s first systemwide framework for collections governance and stewardship. Her work focuses on the preservation, stewardship, and accessibility of cultural collections, particularly fraternal and community-based histories that have often been overlooked or underrepresented. In 2021, she founded the Center for Fraternal Collections & Research at Indiana University. She also explores how emerging technologies, including augmented and virtual reality, can create new ways for people to access and engage with historical collections. Heather holds an EdD in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania, an MLS from the University of Maryland, and a master’s degree in theological studies from the Iliff School of Theology. Her career has spanned museum, archival, library, and university collections, giving her a unique perspective on how institutions can preserve the past while making it meaningful and accessible to new audiences.
