"Walla Zaman Ya Selahy" — National Anthem of the United Arab Republic

"Walla Zaman Ya Selahy" (والله زمان يا سلاحي) was the National Anthem of the United Arab Republic (UAR), the union between Egypt and Syria that existed between 1958 and 1961. Its title translates as "It's been a long time, my weapon". ‎ ‎The Author of the lyrics was the Egyptian poet and cartoonist Ṣalāḥ Jāhīn (Salah Jahin) and the Egyptian music composer Kamāl Ṭawīl (Kamal Al Taweel). ‎ ‎- Meaning: ‎ ‎The Origin: The song gained popularity during the Suez Crisis in 1956, playing on Egyptian radio as a call to resistance against the tripartite invasion. ‎Its later use: After the dissolution of the UAR in 1961, Egypt kept it as its official anthem until 1979.
