I've found another British town with a seriously wild history! 🇬🇧🤯 Today I'm reacting to “A Brief History of Berwick upon Tweed” and discovering the story of one of Britain's most fascinating border towns. Sitting right on the England–Scotland border, Berwick-upon-Tweed has spent centuries caught up in the struggle between the two kingdoms. And this place has changed hands 13 times! 😳 The history gets even crazier when we get into the town's incredible defenses. Queen Elizabeth I commissioned Italian-style ramparts that transformed Berwick into a huge fortified town — one that the video describes as never having been breached. Then there are the bridges. Berwick has three major historic bridges, including the 17th-century bridge associated with King James I and the spectacular Victorian Royal Border Bridge. And, of course, I couldn't react to a video about Berwick without getting to the absolutely bizarre story involving Russia. 😂🇷🇺 According to the local legend, Berwick somehow remained technically at war with Russia because of an issue involving a declaration connected to the Crimean War — a story that has become part of Berwick's identity and folklore. But there's much more to Berwick than battles and borders. This video also explores: 🏰 Berwick's incredible fortifications ⚔️ Its turbulent relationship with England and Scotland 🌉 Its historic bridges 🐟 Salmon fishing and the town's fishing industry 🧊 The surprising history of ice storage 📚 Wilson's Tales of the Borders 🎨 The Lowry trail 🎭 Berwick's festivals and creative community 🇬🇧 The town's distinctive local identity After just learning about the England–Scotland border, I had to find out more about one of the towns that has spent so much of its history sitting right on that dividing line. So let's see what makes Berwick-upon-Tweed so fascinating! 🎥 Original Video I'm Reacting To:    • A Brief History of Berwick upon Tweed   🎬 Patreon — British TV Reactions & Early Access:   / drivedinediscover   🏉 DDDSportsReacts:    / @dddsportsreacts   💛 Subscribe to Drive Dine Discover:    / @drivedinediscover1   ☕ Support the Channel: https://buymeacoffee.com/drivedinedis... 💎 Become a Channel Member:    / @drivedinediscover1   🎁 Support the Channel with YouTube: You can also support the channel with a Super Thanks on this video or YouTube Gifts during eligible live streams.
