Why Do We Dwell In The Past? First, it's important to make a clear point: There is a difference between people who think on the past and people who dwell in it! The latter is often a sign of some greater problem. He who dwells in the past generally has regret and remorse obsessively and sometimes compulsively, on things or circumstances he can not control and can not change! Another motivation (and sometimes a primary reason) for dwelling in the past is regret. Regret of things we've done or said, or, more commonly, things we haven't done or said. Sometimes we remind ourselves of our crowning victories and greatest accomplishments, however, "He that dwells in the past so much, can never move forward in life."
