Minister for education, IT and electronics Nara Lokesh has announced that the Andhra Pradesh government will provide free electricity to Ganesh mandapams set up across the state for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. The government will take necessary steps to ensure that all Ganesh mandapams across Andhra Pradesh are covered by the free power facility. The decision is aimed at reducing the financial burden of electricity charges on mandapam committees. Ganesh Chaturthi, celebrated on Shukla Paksha Chaturthi in the month of Bhadrapada, will be observed on September 14 this year, according to the Telugu calendar. The festival is marked by the installation of idols of Lord Ganesha and celebrations across the State. Lokesh said the government would extend all possible support to ensure that devotees celebrate Vinayaka Chavithi with devotion, enthusiasm and grandeur. He said the free electricity provision would help organisers meet the expenses involved in conducting the festivities. Wishing the people on the occasion, Lokesh prayed that the blessings of Lord Vigneswara would bring happiness and prosperity to every family. He also wished for peace, well-being and prosperity for people across the State through the grace of Lord Ganesha.
