2d) Hello Intensified: Basic Room Acoustics and Reverb Resources: Start with the Session you’ve been working in Tutorial 2c) Index: 00:23 What is Reverb? Why is it important for Film Post Production -All Sounds have a certain amount of Reverb, only exception is an anechoic chamber -Reverb can be very discrete, f.e in a snowfield, or very strong, like in a parking garage Sounds are usually from different sources, but they need to sound consistent, as if they were from the same acoustic space. That’s why we try to record as many sounds as possible with as less Reverberation as possible. -Things get complicated in a post production when some sounds have strong reverberation on them, which does not fit the Image. -Trying to dereverb Sounds is often impossible -Most difficult: Sounds with an interior acoustic, but should sound like happening outside in the Film 01:01 Different Rooms have different characteristics, because they consist of different Materials and Room Sizes. Depending on the Room and the Size, the Reverberation Time varies. The so called RT60 Time is the most significant Variable. Others variables are the Size of the room, the dampening factor, and the diffusion Off course, we also have more or less recognisable reverberation outside 03:03 Different Microphones in a dry room 04:30 Changing the room 06:12 Going to the stairway 07:55 Our listening experience has a lot of knowledge how a room should sound 01.25 Elements that absorb or diffuse sound 08:39 Demonstrations of different distances 11:44 Thomas favourite reverb :)
