Canada has two seasons: winter, and construction. But under midtown Toronto, four giant machines dug roughly 10 km of tunnel each way beneath one of the busiest streets in the country, and between the stations, there wasn't a single cone on the road above. This video counts the cones. Seven machines working in Canada right now that keep the roadwork underground, inside old pipes, or off the street entirely. Plus the forgotten story of the Toronto company that used to build tunnel boring machines for the world. Where are you watching from? And which street near you has had the cones up the longest?
