Kameron Anton is our banjo player in Folk Hogan. A few years into playing together, I got to know his Lebanese family and the musical tradition they’ve carried through generations. They’ve performed at our local Living Traditions Festival for decades—possibly more than 40 years.
Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Holladay, Utah, hosted this festival, bringing aunts, uncles, mothers, and fathers together onstage, with Kameron right near the center. When he asked me to run sound, I was honored.
After dinner, we moved the sound system into place and jumped straight into the performance. With roughly nine musicians, it was a quick setup and a real technical challenge. My camera work took a back seat while I kept the sound going, but I’m happy to have captured this memory.
Experiences like this remind me why I love my work: the creative problem-solving, the people, and the chance to experience beautiful music and culture up close.
Thank you to Kameron and the Anton family for trusting me with the sound and letting me be part of the day.
