🚨 BIG GST UPDATE FOR AMAZON, FLIPKART & ONLINE SELLERS!
क्या अब आप बिना हर State में अपना office खोले पूरे India में business expand कर सकते हैं?
The 57th GST Council meeting held on 8 October 2026 recommended the introduction of Rule 14B under the CGST Rules, 2017.
The proposal aims to simplify GST registration for eligible small suppliers selling goods through e-commerce operators (ECOs) in States or Union Territories where they do not have a physical presence.
In this video, CA Green Agarwal explains the proposed Rule 14B, its conditions, practical implications and important precautions for online sellers.
📌 WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
✅ What is proposed GST Rule 14B?
✅ Why do e-commerce sellers face State-wise GST registration challenges?
✅ Can sellers use an e-commerce operator's warehouse as their Principal Place of Business (PPoB)?
✅ Who may qualify for simplified GST registration?
✅ What is the proposed ₹2.5 lakh monthly limit?
✅ Is prior consent from the e-commerce operator required?
✅ What are the Aadhaar authentication and verification requirements?
✅ What happens if the e-commerce operator withdraws consent?
✅ Does Rule 14B allow one GST registration for all India?
✅ What should online sellers do before the new rule is notified?
💰 IMPORTANT CONDITIONS IN THE PROPOSAL
The official GST Council recommendations and subsequent FAQs describe conditions including:
• Supplies of goods exclusively through eligible e-commerce operators collecting TCS under Section 52.
• A regular GST registration in the seller's home State.
• Prior consent of the e-commerce operator to declare its warehouse as the Principal Place of Business.
• Biometric Aadhaar authentication and physical verification.
• A proposed ₹2.5 lakh monthly threshold, with wording that requires confirmation from the final notified rule.
• Separate State-wise registration, rather than one GST number for the entire country.
📦 PRACTICAL EXAMPLE
Suppose a seller registered in Rajasthan wants to store and sell goods through an e-commerce operator's warehouse in Karnataka.
Under the proposed mechanism, the seller may be able to declare the operator's warehouse as the Principal Place of Business and obtain simplified registration in Karnataka, subject to the prescribed conditions.
⚖️ IMPORTANT LEGAL CLARIFICATION
Rule 14B was recommended by the 57th GST Council.
The recommendation itself does not automatically amend the CGST Rules.
The final eligibility conditions, procedural requirements and effective date must be verified from the applicable notification.
This proposal is NOT an exemption from GST registration and does NOT introduce one GST registration for all States.
