2 Han Palace Maidens 汉风丽影 【Millennium Legend 千年·舞传奇 2023]

Greater Washington Chinese Dance, in partnership with Novasian Chorus, presented Millennium Legend - A Dance and Song Spectacular inspired by Chinese history, traditions, and diverse ethnic cultures. This presentation was supported in part by ArtsFairfax (artsfairfax.org) Video credits: Charlie Chung Greater Washington Chinese Dance (gwcd.org) was established in 2022 as the non-profit affiliate of Xuejuan Dance Ensemble (XDE, xjdance.org). Its aim is to bring the art of Chinese dance to diverse audiences in America. XDE has been dedicated to the education and performance of Chinese dance for 15 years. Based in Herndon, VA, XDE offers varied, rigorous, and comprehensive training in the ethnic, contemporary, and classical genres of Chinese dance. The ensemble provides training in technique and repertoire to students of all ages and backgrounds through a diverse curriculum. GWCD activities complement and enhance the works of XDE by focusing on community outreach in order to promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation. GWCD has taken Chinese dance to a variety of settings: Educational institutions (public and private elementary schools to universities) Workplaces (Coast Guard, Transportation Security Administration, and Great Wolf Lodge) Public events (Kennedy Center Dance Sanctuaries, Lotus and Water Lily Festival, National Dance Day, Fairfax County Summer Entertainment Series, and Fiesta Asia) Performing arts venues (Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, Capital One Hall, Wolf Trap’s Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods, and Olney Theater, Prince George's Publik Playhouse)
