(July 2024) Today, we get to take a detailed look at a rare, historic Salem freight elevator in Roanoke, VA. Installed in 1946, this elevator serves the two and a half levels of what used to be a grocery store. The hydraulic system and controller were built by Globe Hoist company, and Salem installed the rest of the elevator. For an 80 year old elevator, this thing keeps working away with minimal problems!
