Still sick, still studying. 😷 Today’s session was a quiet one. I’m dealing with a headache, a cough and a stuffy nose, so I decided to spend some time organizing my Hanja notes. My husband was playing music in the background while I was trying not to cough or sniffle too much during filming 😅 📖 Today’s Korean lesson: Hanja (한자어) I’m not trying to memorize how to write Chinese characters. My goal is to understand the meanings behind Korean vocabulary and start recognizing familiar roots in different words. The 4 roots I reviewed: 🇰🇷 國 → 국 — country • 한국 (韓國) — South Korea • 중국 (中國) — China • 외국 (外國) — foreign country • 국내 (國內) — domestic / within the country • 국제 (國際) — international 🇰🇷 無 → 무 — absence / without • 무료 (無料) — free of charge • 무관심 (無關心) — indifference • 무의미 (無意味) — meaningless • 무조건 (無條件) — unconditionally • 무제한 (無制限) — unlimited 🇰🇷 場 → 장 — place / location • 장소 (場所) — place • 시장 (市場) — market • 직장 (職場) — workplace • 현장 (現場) — site / scene • 운동장 (運動場) — sports field 🇰🇷 食 → 식 — food / eating • 식사 (食事) — meal • 음식 (飲食) — food • 식당 (食堂) — restaurant • 식품 (食品) — food products • 식욕 (食慾) — appetite ✏️ What I actually learned today I reviewed all four roots, transferred my notes into a separate Hanja notebook and wrote down 20 vocabulary examples for future study. I also managed to remember all four roots without hints. One small moment I liked: I almost figured out the meaning of 무료 (free of charge) on my own because I recognized 무 (without). I guessed something like “without payment.” The 20 example words are not memorized yet. They’re just there for future lessons.
