What does a morning commute through Washington, DC look like in a self-driving Tesla? I mounted my phone on the dashboard and recorded a real weekday morning drive through DC using Tesla Full Self-Driving (Supervised). The drive starts in East DC around 7:00 AM and heads toward downtown Washington and the George Washington University area, passing some familiar DC sights along the way. Later, I continue the drive back across the city toward Northeast DC. This isn't a controlled test route, just a normal morning drive through Washington, DC traffic, with intersections, traffic lights, pedestrians, lane changes, city streets, and all the little decisions that come with driving through the nation's capital. Parts of the video where nothing much is happening (long stretches of road or waiting at traffic lights) have been sped up to 5×. Sections showing more interesting driving situations are shown in real time and labeled accordingly. Tesla Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is a driver-assistance system and requires an attentive driver who is ready to take control at any time. Filmed in Washington, DC Tuesday, September 1st, 2026 Welcome to Daily Moments Somewhere Else — ordinary moments from everyday life, somewhere else in the world.
