Melia Tortuga Beach Resort and Spa - Sal, Cape Verde, Santa Maria

PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION BELOW! Here is my own slideshow of when I went to the Melia Tortuga hotel, I went here at July 2011, two months after it had originally opened in May 2011 so everything was brand new! I had a great time, unlimited supply of food at the Spices restaurant (which is a breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet) and also at all the bars you can have as many alcoholic/non alcoholic drinks as you like without the need to feel bad asking for them each time you top up!! The only downside I have with this hotel is the star rating. Melia has stated that it is a 5* hotel which is not the case in my opinion. I would state that this is a 4* resort as I have been to many resorts such as Mauritius where the hotel was stated to be 4* in which I believe was a 5 star experience. However as this is the only 5 star rated hotel to date from January 2012 this is the best hotel you will come across in Sal as all the other hotels are 4 or 3 stars which will most likely to be a star under for what they have stated. If you are looking to stay here I thoroughly recommend the capoeira entertainment which I have included in my hotel slideshow at the end in which was very 5 star entertainment, totally thrilling! even if you are nearby the hotel and are staying elsewhere I recommend that you find otu ion which day the capoeria entertainment has, when I was there in July 2011 the capoeria entertainment took place every Monday but it might have changed. Some staff are more friendly than others but as a whole all the staff is friendly!
