TranSan Labs | Live Music Creation

Welcome back to the lab for another deep dive into the creative process of Transistor Sandwich! In this session, I’m putting a brand-new find to the test: a collection of 80s synth-wave drum samples I snagged for just a dollar. Despite a sudden USB hub failure that threatened to derail the stream, we pushed through, plugged in directly, and "coagulated" a brand-new track with a heavy 80s influence. Inside this session: The Muse: Experimenting with a new "80s Synthwave" drum sample pack from Sample Science to find that perfect retro-futuristic beat. Technical Troubleshooting: Real-time problem solving as I deal with a dead USB hub and get the MIDI connection back up and running. Building the Groove: Crafting a custom "Synth Wave Kit" and layering it with a driving N90 bassline and a rhythmic bass arp using BlueArp. Sound Design: Exploring new textures with the "Lowquest" VST—specifically the "Mystery Keys"—and finding a lead that cuts through the mix using Surge XT. The Final Result: A full play-through of the new track, which features a blend of nostalgic 80s rhythms and atmospheric, gritty synth pads. Support the channel: All music created in these labs—including the upcoming track from this session—is available to stream and download for free (royalty-free!) at transistorsandwich.com. #LiveMusic #MusicProduction #Synthesizers #80sSynthwave #ElectronicMusic #TransistorSandwich #MusicCreation #VST #SampleScience
