In 1993, British synthesist Mark Griffiths released From the Trees through the UK cassette label Electronical Dreams as catalog number ED035. By then, Griffiths had been creating electronic music for more than a decade, beginning with early experiments using tape machines and environmental sound before acquiring his first synthesizer in 1980. From the Trees followed earlier releases including Paperworld, Crystallography, Transmixion, K2, and his previous Electronical Dreams cassette, Like the Passing of Summer Rain.

From the Trees arrived during the later years of Britain's independent cassette culture, with Electronical Dreams issuing the tape under its fitting banner, “Music with Vision.” Griffiths’ electronic landscapes found a natural home there, carrying the light of his Blue Crystal through misty forests, turbulent skies, and the spaces between the visible and unseen.
