Simple Minds - Celebrate (KD Remix 2026)

This is a fan-made and unofficial remix of the song by Simple Minds that was released initially as an album track in 1980 (Empires And Dance) and then as a single in 1981. Unbelievably, Celebrate did not even get into the top 100 which is hard to believe. The original version was as good as anything from new wave bands at this point of time. No doubt, it did not get the airplay and the promotion it deserved. There is a lot of luck involved with getting chart hits. The very early Simple Minds material is genuinely experimental and if you have not heard any of their early albums I would recommend that you give them a listen. During the early phase of their career Simple Minds were definitely trying to move into new musical spaces. Thanks for the early music Simple Minds. True pioneers. By the time Simple Minds were having songs written for them in order to get a hit in the USA (Don't Your Forget About Me"), the experimental mindset had disappeared completely and pure commercialism was the priority. I don't dislike "Don't You Forget About Me", but when I listen to it it makes me think of the compromises bands make in order to have hits. I sourced the cover art from Discogs which has been used in the video. If the licence holder wants me to remove this video please let me know.
