Raising pigeons for meat starts with tiny squabs – and in this video you can watch their whole squab growth from day 1 to day 30 on our small pigeon farm in Vietnam. No talking, only natural farm sounds.
On day 1 the squabs are pink, blind and almost featherless. Mom and dad keep them warm and feed them pigeon milk from their crop. This fast squab growth is the reason raising pigeons for meat is so popular on small family farms: in about four weeks the babies are almost as big as their parents.
Then the first pin feathers break through the skin, real feathers cover the body, and by day 28–30 the young pigeons leave the nest and start eating corn on their own. Watching squab growth day by day shows how simple and natural raising pigeons for meat can be.
