"A small YouTuber from Haryana is giving a press conference, but our Prime Minister couldn't give a single one in 12 years."
Hours after his release from police detention, Dhruv Rathee faces the media for the first time and dares PM Modi, Amit Shah and CEC Gyanesh Kumar to answer his questions on "vote chori".
On Sunday, 11 October 2026, a day after Gurugram Police detained him at his home ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee held his first press conference in Delhi. He described the detention as a "kidnapping", alleging he was dragged from his bedroom without a warrant and kept without his phone or a lawyer. Police say it was a preventive detention under BNSS Section 172(2) because he planned to join a protest where prohibitory orders were in force. Rathee also showed his passport to rebut claims that he is a foreign national, called the situation an "undeclared emergency", denied foreign funding, demanded Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resign on moral grounds, and proposed that the PM and the Leader of the Opposition jointly choose the next CEC. He ends with an open challenge over 70,000 voter names in West Bengal that were allegedly deleted before polling and restored after the results.
All claims in this video are Dhruv Rathee's own allegations and opinions; police and government positions are noted above.
