Thunderson shares the story behind his food and culture vlogs, his work with the Lannang Language and Culture Center, and the importance of preserving Chinese languages among younger Filipino-Chinese generations. He also discusses the distinction between appreciating Chinese culture and supporting the Chinese government’s actions, including his public response to Chinese Ambassador Jing Quan’s remarks on the Philippines and the West Philippine Sea. The conversation also tackles the departure of Chinese language teachers, national security concerns, calls to declare the Chinese ambassador persona non grata, and how the Philippines can defend its sovereignty without fueling prejudice against Chinese nationals. Thunderson further reflects on his work in the AI-assisted animated musical film 'Plump Blossom', his views on wealth and corruption, and the difficult choices facing the Philippines amid U.S.-China tensions.
