Cattle production causes no deforestation risk in Finland

Two-thirds of the Finnish land area is covered by forests. The numbers of herds and cattle have steadily been decreasing over decades.There is no real risk of large-scale deforestation due to agriculture. Cattle thrives in a cool climate. In wet and cold conditions, buildings are still needed to house them. The Finnish cattle producers want to keep the balance between animal welfare, biodiversity, forest preservation and farm economy.
