You can cover the mini album however you want, but this is a great method:    • How to Make a Mini Album Cover Using the E...   Here is the tutorial on making the base pages:   • Making the Base Pages for a 5X7 Mini Album...   You need (2) 5x7 Chipboard and (1) 5 X 2 3/4 (I used 2 1/4 but it is better if you increase it) Use (2) 7X9 cardstock to cover the covers and 5 3/4 X 7 to cover the spine. I did not include the measurements so you may want to have a notebook handy as you watch.
