SUPERFICIAL CERVICAL PLEXUS BLOCK

This educational video, presented at the ESRA Italy Congress 2025, provides a practical and anatomical overview of the superficial cervical plexus block. Using anatomical and ultrasound images, it reviews the main landmarks for identifying the cervical plexus, including the sternocleidomastoid muscle, its posterior border, Erb’s point, and the cervical fascial planes. The video explains the distribution of the C2–C4 sensory branches, the ultrasound-guided technique, and the appropriate fascial plane for local anesthetic injection. It also reviews the main clinical indications, particularly superficial neck surgery, carotid surgery, and its use as an adjunct in clavicular and supraclavicular procedures.
