Thanks for tuning in! Be sure to tune in tomorrow at 12:00 EST for part two when GSP chases down the second motorcycle! On February 3, 2024, at approximately 10:18 hours, I attempted to stop a 2024 black BMW 1000 Sports Bike for no license plate displayed to the rear. The attempted traffic stop location was I-75 Northbound at MM 289 in Bartow County, GA. The driver of the motorcycle immediately sped up as I approached him with emergency equipment active, initiating a pursuit. The driver of the motorcycle fled in an extremely reckless manner throughout Bartow County. The motorcyclist was passing vehicles, in-and-out of heavy traffic, driving at speeds of 100mph plus, while also driving on the shoulders of the interstate. At mile maker 291 | attempted a channelization technique, the motorcyclist appeared to be pulling over onto the shoulder, but kept fleeing, making this attempt unsuccessful. At mile marker 300, I began losing sight of the motorcyclist due to him slowing down to blend in with traffic. I regained visual of the driver and continued pursuing him. At mile marker 304, I attempted another channelization by moving in front of him and attempting to get him to the right shoulder. The motorcyclist veered to the left, going around my patrol car, making this attempt unsuccessful. When the pursuit reached Gordon County Line, MCCD Officer SFC Darren Strickland and TFC2 Cody Cantrell, were on standby at the county line to provide assistance. Trooper Cantrell became primary of the pursuit while I provided radio traffic. There was an additional motorcycle involved. The additional motorcyclist maintained a quarter of a mile distance ahead of the motorcycle being pursued. The driver of the second motorcycle exited off the interstate at the 310 Exit. Trooper Cantrell tried using the channelization technique on the initial fleeing motorcyclist. Trooper Cantrell tried channeling at mile marker 307. The motorcyclist sped toward the right side of Trooper Cantrell’s vehicle while going around, making the attempt unsuccessful. At mile marker 309, Trooper Cantrell attempted to channel the motorcycle again. The motorcyclist again sped toward the right side of the patrol car and did not stop fleeing, making the attempt unsuccessful. At mile marker 312, Trooper Cantrell tried an additional channel. The motorcyclist performed the same maneuver as the previous channelization attempt. At mile marker 314, Trooper Cantrell tried another channelization. The motorcyclist veered to the left while going around, causing this attempt to be unsuccessful. After four unsuccessful attempts to channel the primary fleeing motorcyclist, Trooper Cantrell advised to box-in the motorcycle. At mile marker 315 we attempted the box-in method. At this location of the pursuit, it was unsuccessful, and the motorcyclist was able to evade the box-in. While approaching Exit 320, we attempted another box-in. The driver of the motorcycle refused to stop as we were performing the box-in and struck the rear of Trooper Cantrell's patrol vehicle. After impact, the motorcyclist lost control of his motorcycle and began to wobble across the center and right lanes of I-75. Gordon County Sheriff's Deputy Gabe Shipman #141 slowed down as he steered into the right lane, staying behind the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle in the right lane and laid it down on its left side, throwing himself off in front of Deputy Shipman. Deputy Shipman attempted to stop behind the motorcyclist but was unsuccessful and struck the rear tire of the motorcycle with the front of his push bumper, punting the motorcycle forward. After the collision, Trooper Cantrell and Deputy Shipman arrested the driver of the motorcycle. Trooper Cantrell applied handcuffs to the driver, Devonta Ceballos. Mr. Ceballos was a suspended Tennessee license holder. He was wanted for domestic battery, assault, breaking and entering, burglary, and failure to appear out of Indiana. The motorcycle was towed by Post 43's list wrecker, Parrish. The motorcycle Mr. Ceballos was driving was stolen. It was reported stolen by Greenville County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina. Warrants for Mr. Ceballos have been taken and signed by Judge Gunn in Bartow County.
