Sometimes a creative day isn't about producing something. It's about stepping outside, slowing down, and paying attention. In this week's artist vlog, I take my little handmade field kit out for a day of exploring, sketching and collecting inspiration. I wasn't looking for anything in particular — I simply wanted to be outdoors, noticing the colours, textures, shapes and tiny details that are so easy to walk past. Because I've realised that this is where so many of my imaginary worlds begin. A flower. A strange colour. The shape of an old building. A curious object. The sound of the sea. Not everything I notice will become a finished illustration. Some things might never make it onto paper at all. But perhaps months from now, one tiny detail will quietly find its way into a drawing, a story, a jigsaw puzzle or an entirely new world. And after spending so much time in the studio, I think I simply needed to remember that creative inspiration doesn't always happen at the desk.
