I’ll Sing Again by Morning | Psalm 30 | Lyric Video

An original worship song for the long night after a loss, when the kitchen light is still on and morning feels far away. The tears are real, and so is the morning. ▶ Scripture behind this song: Psalm 30:1-5, 8, 11-12, paraphrase, not a quotation. In Psalm 30 David thanks God for lifting him up and hearing his cry: weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning, and God turns mourning into dancing. In the song it is sung personally, and to Jesus and the Holy Spirit, as a Christian reading of the Psalm. ▶ Lyrics: You won't leave me in the night, Jesus, I'll sing again by morning, Tears may stay till the light comes in, But I'll sing again by morning. Kitchen light still on, Tea gone cold again, Folded laundry on the chair, Nobody to tell. God, I cried to You for help, And You heard me where I am. You won't leave me in the night, Jesus, I'll sing again by morning, Tears may stay till the light comes in, But I'll sing again by morning. Empty side of the bed, Calendar not turned, Stuck on a month I can't get past, Every candle burned. The hard night only lasts a moment, But Your kindness lasts my life. You won't leave me in the night, Jesus, I'll sing again by morning, Tears may stay till the light comes in, But I'll sing again by morning. Window going gray, Then a line of gold, Birds out on the wire, And the ache lets go. Lord, You lifted me up, You pulled my soul up from the pit. You won't leave me in the night, Jesus, I'll sing again by morning, Tears may stay till the light comes in, But I'll sing again by morning. You took my grief off like an old coat, Holy Spirit, wrap me up in gladness, I won't keep quiet, I won't hold it in, God, I'll thank You all my days. You won't leave me in the night, Jesus, I'll sing again by morning, Tears may stay till the light comes in, But I'll sing again by morning, God, You turned my crying into singing. ▶ Credits: Lyrics: One Passage (original).
