This mix dives into some of the most defining early trance classics with techno‑infused elements from 1992 and 1993, all running at 140 BPM+. In the early 90s, techno and trance were closely connected; both relied on fast tempos, hypnotic loops, and long, evolving arrangements. Producers moved freely between the styles, blending techno’s drive with trance’s melodic lift, shaping the unmistakable 92–93 sound. Some of my personal highlights include the opener, Perry & Rhodan – The Beat Just Goes Straight On & On, 00:00 produced by the German duo behind a couple of Rising High Records classics and the ethereal Transform – Transformation, with looping vocals, bright synth riffs, and a rolling acid trance bassline that captures the early trance sound of 92/93. Digital Excitation – Sunburst (Cubic 22 Remix) 31:27 brings the Belgian trance feel, with a delicate melody, hypnotic vocal touches, and an emotional early rave breakdown. Komakino – Beyond Your Dreams 52:45 represents the harder side of 90s trance, fast kicks, atmospheric pads, and the sci fi samples that defined the Suck Me Plasma sound. LDC – T Raumreise 57:48, produced by Torsten Fenslau (also behind the more commercial project Culture Beat), is a 1992 German classic mixing early trance and techno with space themed spoken word and drifting synths. The track heavily samples the German dub of John Carpenter's cult classic 1974 sci-fi film Dark Star. The Martian – Stardancer 01:03:22, produced by Mad Mike Banks of Underground Resistance (shh it’s a secret-for those who know), adds Detroit’s cosmic touch with deep pulses and a soulful acid line from the Red Planet label.
