What happens when your teenage emo phase becomes a personality trait? Welcome to the final episode in our month of Edinburgh Fringe specials on Who Are You (Wearing?), the fashion podcast that's not really about clothes. Hosted by Scottish presenter, journalist and producer Alice Cruickshank, this celebrity, showbiz, arts and culture interview series uses fashion as a lens to explore identity, ambition, creativity and the moments that shape us. This week, Alice is joined by Scotland's pop-punk comedian Hannah Morton for a deeply nostalgic trip back to the millennial alternative scene. The pair get into the world of "elder emo" culture, from Twilight and Paramore to the enduring influence of Hayley Williams. They also revisit the worst emo and indie sleaze fashion trends (mullet dress, anyone?) Alice and Hannah bond over their shared love of aggressively winged eyeliner and bright ginger hair, discussing why maintaining a vivid hair colour should arguably count as a skill on your CV. The conversation also explores Hannah's new Edinburgh Fringe show, Crushed, and her life and work as a comedian. This episode explores: Elder emo culture and millennial nostalgia The cultural impact of Twilight Paramore and the enduring influence of Hayley Williams The worst emo and indie sleaze fashion trends The return of questionable 00s style Why winged eyeliner is forever The skill of maintaining bright ginger hair Hannah's new Edinburgh Fringe show, Crushed Hannah Morton: Crushed is at the Edinburgh Fringe at The Gilded Saloon on 29 & 30 August.
