A foggy walk at the Kerry Cliffs near Portmagee, Co. Kerry, on the Skellig Ring.
I walk from the car park up to the cliffs and along the viewpoints. At the start, the cliffs and the water below are still visible, but the further out I go, the thicker the fog gets. At the elevated viewing platform at the highest point, you're completely wrapped in fog, and all that's left is the sound of the waves far below.
On a clear day, the Kerry Cliffs are the closest viewpoint to the Skellig Islands and Puffin Island. The cliffs rise over 300 m (1,000 ft) above the Atlantic and are around 400 million years old. This visit wasn't a clear day, but it had an atmosphere of its own.
