Rev. Timothy Wright, the Grammy-nominated "Godfather of Gospel" and pastor of Grace Tabernacle Christian Center in Brooklyn, spent nearly four decades shaping the sound of Black gospel music with songs like "Troubles Don't Last Always" and albums including "Come Thou Almighty King" and "Been There Done That." But on July 4, 2008, everything changed. A wrong-way driver on Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania struck Wright's car head-on, killing his wife and co-pastor Betty Wright and his 14-year-old grandson D.J. Wright, and leaving Timothy Wright paralyzed from the neck down and dependent on a ventilator. This video tells the full story of that devastating crash, the nine agonizing months Wright spent fighting for his life before his death on April 24, 2009, and the powerful legacy his sons David and Derrick Wright carry forward today.
