Divers Reached the Edmund Fitzgerald 530 Feet Down —Lake Superior Still Hasn't Given Back Her 29 Men

On November 10, 1975, the 729-foot freighter Edmund Fitzgerald disappeared from radar on Lake Superior with 29 men aboard. There was no mayday. Her last message was "We are holding our own." Not one member of her crew was ever recovered. This documentary follows the Fitzgerald's final day, minute by minute. It explains why Lake Superior so rarely gives back what it takes, and why the cause of the sinking is still debated after half a century. It also looks at what is starting to change beneath the coldest of the Great Lakes, as the water warms and invasive mussels close in.
