At the end of the Ebola crisis in 2015, I traveled to Liberia for the first time. Ever since I read a powerful story about this fascinating country in a major German magazine, visiting was my dream: kids surfing on wooden boards, deep green forests meeting white sand beaches, and a history that moved me deeply. It took us two years to get in because of Ebola restrictions. We detoured 3,000km, searching for borders that had finally reopened. Liberia completely disappointed me—and amazed me beyond belief. It shattered and exceeded all my expectations at once. I promised myself I’d never return, but here I am… again. Why? Maybe you’ll get an idea in this video. Liberia, my second try. Mohamed’s first.
