Testing out new kayak water always comes with a learning curve, and this trip had a little bit of everything—from total heartbreak to a brand-new personal best.
We started the day scouting a new area, but after a tough go, we circled back to familiar territory where disaster struck: hooking into a absolute giant, personal best Snook only to lose it right at the side of the kayak.
Instead of calling it a day, we packed up and moved to a second spot near the inlet. After missing an early bite, the grind paid off around the docks. We picked through a handful of mangrove snapper, hooked into a wild dock-dwelling fight to land my new PB Crevalle Jack, and lost another heavy fish before the tide ran out.
Raw, unscripted inshore kayak fishing. If you love the grind and following along on the path to 100 species, hit that subscribe button!
