Analesa Fisher joins Paul Salfen for an exclusive AMFM Magazine conversation about a week when everything stacked up at once. Fisher voices Omi, the nomad survivor grounding the chaos in Netflix’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2, and stars as Amanda in the Angel Studios film Rise and Shine—opposite newcomer Ana Sharp, Tony Award winners Rachel Bay Jones and Danny Burstein, and more than a dozen disabled actors in speaking roles. Based on the true story from Janice Steele’s memoir, the film follows a young woman with cerebral palsy chasing friendship, independence, public high school, and prom. It opens in theaters nationwide October 23 and streams on the Angel app in November. In this interview Fisher talks about almost rejecting the role that changed everything (Metal Lords), the two-fold discipline of being relentless while learning to let auditions go, Googling their own name on the bad days, the difference between on-camera prep and pure instinct in the voice booth, and the Hail Mary audition recorded in a sweltering Portland parking garage that landed them Omi. They also open up about authentic disability representation and why seeing real disabled actors on screen still feels like a dream come true.Watch Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 now on Netflix.
Catch Rise and Shine in theaters or stream it on Angel starting in November.
