Around 1,500 houses and shops on both sides of the road and approximately 300 houses in Peer Mohalla are said to be affected. Many residents say they have lived in the area for years and are now worried about losing their homes, businesses and sources of livelihood. Some locals also claim that they have supported the BJP in the past and are questioning why they are now facing demolition action.
