Flat Tappet camshaft failures are increasingly common, and many people still blame the oil. However, tests have shown that modern API SP rated oils are actually better than the older API spec oils and even better than diesel oils for flat tappet wear protection (after cam break-in), so why are flat tappet cams still failing?
