Long before the theaters, the neon and the crowds, Broadway was a footpath worn into the rock and marsh of Manhattan by the Lenape. A Dutch explorer recorded it in sixteen forty-two, and the colonists widened it into the main road of New Amsterdam, running from the fort at the southern tip toward the wooden wall that guarded the settlement. This documentary follows that road across four centuries: the trail, the Dutch Gentlemen's Way, the British renaming, the mansions, the theaters and the Great White Way. One path, and the entire story of a city built on top of it. AI CONTENT NOTICE: This documentary was produced with artificial intelligence.
