Can anything stop a honey badger? 🦡 It gets bitten in the face by a puff adder and is back hunting snakes five hours later. It walks into a beehive like it's a buffet. Its skin is so loose it can turn around inside it and bite whatever is holding on. And one of them broke out of a prison built just for him so many times, they named the place Alcatraz.
This Feature Creature follows the honey badger through a Kalahari night shift (27 km, ten holes per kilometre, jackals and goshawks tagging along to steal), the wet-season snake menu and the receptor that makes cobra venom miss, the beekeepers' war and the fix that cut raids by two-thirds, the honeyguide story scientists finally checked with the people who would know, the fearless reputation vs what the researchers actually see, and Stoffel: the escape artist of Honey Badger Alcatraz.
