A breadboard of 74-series counters, wired neatly the way Ben Eater taught a generation to wire: a 555 clock, a decade counter, a divide-by-twelve and a four-bit binary, each lighting a row of LEDs on the beat. Then the board turns to moss, and the wires turn into slime moulds. Physarum does what the song does. It spreads out over everything (count), feeds the routes that pay (observe, recognise), and lets the rest wither and redraws itself (intervene). Each wire colour becomes its own species, fed at whatever pins the lyric patches together. "Take the two from the decimal, give it to the twelve." "Let the binary clear the decade." RESET stills the whole network, and the drop starts every counter on one pulse. Between seven and eight, a ripple counter passes through states that never existed: 6, 4, 0. Here they get somewhere to go. They come off the chips as numerals and sink into the moss. "The wire is the program, the rhythm is seen." Moss, slime and a golden light; a song about clocks, causality and connections.
