“If I will have time” and “If I would have known” are two of the most common grammar mistakes at IELTS Band 6. In this lesson you fix them for good, then learn the mixed and inverted conditionals (“Had I known...”) that examiners reward at Band 7 and 8.
What you will learn:
Zero, first, second and third conditionals, and the golden rule: no will or would in the if-clause
Mixed conditionals: “If I had studied medicine, I would be a doctor now”
Inverted conditionals with Were, Had and Should: “Had I known, I would have left earlier”
Unless, provided that, as long as, otherwise, in case and other words that replace if
Wish, if only, as if and would rather
30 common mistakes that keep students at Band 6
