The first is AI obedience — designers accepting polished AI output without questioning the thinking behind it. The second is AI avoidance — experienced designers refusing to adapt because they believe their existing process will continue to protect them. Both are risky. In this video, I talk about why the proof of design skill is shifting from the final screen to the thinking behind it. AI can now generate wireframes, interfaces, prototypes, and complete flows in minutes. But it cannot replace your judgment, your understanding of the user, or your ability to explain why a design decision was made. The designers who will remain valuable are not the ones who blindly accept AI or completely reject it. They are the ones who know where to use AI, where to apply their own judgement, and how to make their thinking visible. The real question is: Are you using AI to strengthen your thinking, or to replace it?
