Lake Solitude - Experiencing a Rare Ancient Forest

I encountered something really special that I hadn’t planned for and didn’t know at the time, which is why I am now publishing this video. I had hiked on the edge of a rare ancient forest, that according to the New Hampshire Natural Heritage Bureau is one of the few remaining virgin, Old Growth northern hardwood-conifer forest, Spruce trees recorded in a 2003 survey to be 244 years old, and one Yellow birch at 323 years old. Keep in mind, I didn’t know this while filming, but as I climbed from Lake Solitude another three hundred feet in elevation to this popular White Ledges viewing area over-looking the lake you are going to see what I saw and hear how I felt, this feeling of being in mystical forest.
