The old hall holds the winter cold,
A candle leans beside the door;
The portraits watch the hours unfold,
As leaves go sweeping 'cross the floor.
Come, turn with me where the dark bells call,
Round the table, past the portrait wall;
When the last flame bows and the night winds rise,
We'll dance this waltz under starry skies.
Your silver mask is cold as stone,
A paper moon above the stair;
The cellar wind is chilled to bone,
And frost has traced its lace in air.
(Ah—ah—ah) The voices circle high,
(Ah—ah—ah) Like ravens in the sky;
(Ah—ah—ah) The old stones know our fear,
(Ah—ah—ah) As morning draws so near.
A thin gray beam steals 'cross the floor,
The silent waltz begins to fade;
We slip beyond the velvet door,
To wait within the deepest shade.
Come, turn with me where the dark bells call,
Round the table, past the portrait wall;
When the last flame bows and the night winds rise,
We'll dance this waltz under starry skies.
Round and round, before the light...
One last step into the night...
Oh—ooh—ah...
So faint and light...
