On the 16th February 2018 with the support of my family, I started my journey of Daily Practice with Chen Style Tai Chi Practical Method.
Although I have had daily practice for the majority of my life, this is the first time that my daily practice has been only one style, one item, the same form. On average it takes me about an hour to complete 10 Yilu (first form) forms. What possessed me to take on this challenge? Well it was actually during a conversation with my teacher, Chen Zhonghua on 15 October 2014, when he shared with me the principle of 10,000. Basically the rule of 10,000 in reference to Taiji is that after 10,000 repetitions of the Yilu, the body will change forever. When I enquired deeper into the meaning of "change forever" he explained that it is believed that the body will change the way it moves and 'powers up' .......... that it under goes a transformation. At the time, I made it mean that it's kind of like riding a push bike, once you know how you just never forget.
So I decided that I'd like to test this rule and report on the experience for others who may take an interest.
I wanted to setup some boundaries for myself. When I asked my fellow taiji brothers and sisters about the rule, nobody could really define over what length of time did this 10,000 had to take place. I thought to myself that surely one Yilu a day for 27 years isn't going to do much. Maybe it would? Well, I'll never know now.
But anyway I thought to myself if I did 100 per week and allowed myself a rest day to spend with my family too, then I could do all this in 100 weeks. Now that made sense to me and it felt really good too. So off I went.
I first started a blog page on Medium so that my community could follow my progress.

Then with the support of my wife, the space was made each day for practice. It wasn't easy to say the least but I'm proud to report that at the time of writing this description I am completing 250 Yilus each week and have racked up a current grand total of 36,847 Yilus.
This video was recorded on the 14th March 2021 when I was completing 28,772nd Yilu.
There's not much more to share here, but to say that I had know idea that I would peel away so many layers of my outer shell and I don't feel that I have mastered the art either. But I do seem to move differently to before and there are occasions when I surprise myself when my students and I play with the applications.
I welcome your comments and will be happy to reply to you too.
