There is something truly special about opening your home to people you've never met before, especially when they are friends of a close friend.
In this video, I had the absolute joy of hosting a few wonderful guests in Winnipeg after meeting them just the day before. To make them feel right at home, I prepared one of my favorite traditional Kenyan meals: fresh fried fish, hot ugali, kachumbari and sukuma wiki. Cooking that meal brought back such sweet memories of cooking for my own kids back home.
We spent the day sharing laughs, talking about our first experiences with Canadian winters, adjusting to a new culture and enjoying great company. Before we knew it, strangers had turned into family.
Sadly, all good things must come to an end and it was time for my friends to catch their flights back to Toronto. Saying goodbye is never easy, but the memories we created made it all worth it.
In this video:
Preparing an authentic Kenyan meal in Winnipeg (Fried fish, ugali, and kachumbari!)
Heartwarming conversations and reflections on adapting to life in Canada.
Special guest reactions to Winnipeg and our time together.
The bittersweet moments of saying goodbye as they head back to Toronto.
