Gökmedrese Mosque and Torumtay Tomb
Since the entrance section is used as a madrasah and the tomb located next to it is decorated with purple fired tiles and glazed bricks, the structure named this name is also called Torumtay Mosque, which is attributed to its name. The person who built the mosque, II. It is known that Seyfeddin Torumtay, who was brought to the Governorship of Amasya during the time of Gıyâseddin Keyhusrev and still had a burial in the tomb of 677 (1278-79), which he built himself, which is separated from the building by a street. However, the construction date of the mosque cannot be determined precisely because the inscription removed from its place could not be found.
It is estimated that the building, which was built as a closed complex consisting of a mosque, a madrasa and a tomb, was named Gök Medrese due to the blue glazed bricks in the octagon shaped tomb rim. The thick walls of the rectangular planned building, which is used as both a mosque and a madrasa, are built of cut stone. The mosque has a large, barrel-vaulted and iwan entrance. The windows on both sides of the main door, surrounded by geometric motifs, are known as the most beautiful examples of Seljuk stone workmanship. The windows, which are narrowed upwards with rich muqarnas, are surrounded by rectangular borders.
