'The Phantom of the Opera' performed by Lucy Maunder & Martin Crewes - 26 September 2015

Lucy Maunder and Martin Crewes with a stirring performance of the classic musical theatre number, "The Phantom of the Opera", from Andrew Lloyd Webber's gifted song-writing pen.. This is what great music is all about. The blending of two voices with the enviable capability to stir another's soul and heart. Why don't you sit back with a coffee, wine or your preferred beverage and be entertained by this exceptional piece. On Saturday, 26 September 2015, I had the honour and privilege of witnessing their brilliant talent at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, Australia when the air resounded with their exquisite dulcet tones. They sang up a storm (not literally, thank goodness, after the downpour earlier in the afternoon) although they certainly kept the audience spellbound as they delivered some of the biggest numbers from the most-loved musicals ever produced. "Opera in the Park" was a wonderful arena for them to pair up in many of the numbers - I only wish I could see it all again in the flesh as it truly was a one-of-a-kind concert. The blending of their voices was exceptional and the rapport these two shared between numbers made everyone smile - and often laugh out loud! Gosh we have some talented performers in this great country. This was the perfect opportunity to witness Lucy singing opera numbers as well as her usual musical theatre repertoire. And naturally, she was brilliant in both genres! Accompanied by the Gold Coast Youth Symphony Orchestra and David Cameron, Musical Director, on piano, it truly was a spectacular concert. Thanks for a wonderful night of entertainment, Lucy and Martin. Let's hope you get to put this on again sometime in the not-too-distant-future - or maybe an album would be better, then we can all listen to the two of you over and over again to our heart's content. You're definitely two of Aussie's talented treasures!
