Smoke over your pint, a telly that said goodnight, and children who vanished until tea time. This is everyday Britain in 1975, and almost none of it would pass today. Twenty-five ordinary things from the year of decimal money, runaway prices and a country where only about half the homes had a telephone: sweet cigarettes, Radio Rentals, Green Shield Stamps, the cane and the tawse, four star petrol, the red phone box and the back seat with no belts. Counted down from number twenty-five to number one. Which one was your house? Which of these did you do every single day, and then one day just stopped, without ever noticing when? Tell me in the comments.
