If you're still using tabs to learn songs, it's time to level up your musicianship by learning how to think and talk in terms of notes. In this lesson, I explain why knowing the names of the notes is so important, and then talk you through how the musical alphabet works, including sharps and flats. I also share some concrete practice assignments that will you help you internalize these concepts on your own. Towards the end, I teach you a few shortcuts for identifying note names high up on the fretboard. By the end of the lesson, you'll be well set up to start thinking and talking like a musician.
